“I have never done care work. Will I be thrown in at the deep end?”

No. Before your first solo visit you complete induction training to Care Certificate standards — safeguarding, moving and handling, medication safety, infection control, record keeping — and then shadow experienced carers on their rounds. Solo visits only start when you and the coordinator both agree you are ready, not when a rota gap appears.

“Is the training a one-off tick-box?”

It never stops, and it should not. You get scheduled refreshers, training on any new equipment before you use it in a client’s home, and regular supervisions that exist to support you. When something changes in a client’s care plan, you are briefed before the visit — not left to discover it at the door.

“Can I get real qualifications out of this?”

Yes — NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care, earned while you work, through government-funded programmes. They are yours for life and recognised across the sector. Carers who want to progress towards senior roles are actively backed to do it.

“Who pays for what?”

We pay for your DBS check, your induction and your ongoing training. NVQs run through government funding. You are also insured by us on every visit, without exception — you are never carrying that risk yourself.

“What if something happens on a visit I am not trained for?”

You call the office — someone answers on every shift. Clinical matters go to NHS district nurses and community teams; that line is clear and nobody at Amari will ever push you past your training. Knowing when to escalate is a skill we train, and one we respect.
